The rise of the London fashion week men can not be denied. Season after season, the event attracts more and more designers: since its first edition in June 2012, the number of designers present jumped 67%!
The press and international buyers from some 39 different countries, are becoming more numerous (+ 47% since the launch, according to the CFB) to attend this week that brings together a balanced mix of established designers and young shoots . The British anchoring the London Collections: Men (LCM) also remains very strong: 50% of these designers have attended a London fashion school. They are even close to 20% have studied at the famous Central Saint Martins.
After a very short period of running, the event now reached cruising speed: Topman hiss kick of spring-summer 2016 collections which will succeed some 32 shows and 33 presentations over four days. The highly anticipated launch of the very first men's collection of House of Holland label is part of the great innovations forward. The eyes will be fixed on Lathbridge, brand luxury shoe designer Patrick Cox of Canada launched earlier this year.
Tommy Hilfiger, the Austrian Raimund Berthold creator and the creator Graeme Gaughan, founder of Turn Transmission label, also made their entry into the circle of designers of this fashion week.
The heavyweights of fashion comeback as Alexander McQueen, Aquascutum, Belstaff, Burberry Prorsum, Coach, Dunhill, Jimmy Choo, Joseph, Margaret Howell, Paul Smith, Tom Ford have indeed re-signed for one season. Absent in January due to opening of its flagship store in London, Christopher Kane also is back. Illustrated by Christopher Raeburn or JW Anderson and James Long, the young British guard will make a creative touch to the whole.
The British Fashion Council (BFC) also took the opportunity to organize LCM following the presentations of pre-collections from 15 to 17 June, "this new organization greatly facilitates the work of multi-product buyers who do so two birds with one stone by avoiding duplicative business travel in the British capital, "says Nathalie Constanty, fashion consultant, beauty and design for the Bon Marché. Under the name of "The Hoxton Collective", a brand new showroom also open its doors on 15 and 16 June in London's Holborn and will host a group of designers ready-to-wear consisting of Alexander Lewis Huishan Zhang, Marques'Almeida, Phoebe English and Zoë Jordan. A double edition promises to be eventful.
